Breaking Hearts

Breaking hearts was easy for me,
I was a good looking kid with a PhD.
I had some money and I had a car,
The girls all thought I was a rising star.

Many faces, many names,
Different stories, the same old games.

Running around with my old friends from school,
Making love and playing the fool,
Waking in the morning with a stranger in my arms,
Another one captured by my dubious charms.

Cries of pleasure, cries of pain,
Threats of suicide, abject shame.

They started saying that I was no good,
I hurt every girl like they knew I would.
Even when I moved to another town,
They didn't want to know me when word got around.

Now I've fallen, from dizzy heights.
To lonely days and endless nights.
