Judgement Day

You can build a house so high,
Build the roof up to the sky,
With fifteen rooms and a swimming pool,
And an ocean breeze to keep you cool.

But when the rains are falling and the winds are calling,
And the river's flowing down the mountain side,
They're going to wash your house away,
There'll be nothing left come judgement day.

You can build a bridge so wide,
You can cross the ocean to the other side,
With a six lane highway and a railroad line,
With mighty piers and a form so fine.

But when the waves are breaking and the earth is quaking,
The thunder's pounding and the lightning strikes,
They're going to wash your bridge away,
There'll be nothing left come judgement day.

You can buy a diamond ring,
Give your wife most everything.
Work day and night for your daily bread,
While the kids are sleeping in their bed.

But when the thieves are prowling and the dogs are howling,
And a shadow falls on the bedroom wall,
They're going to take your life away,
There'll be nothing left come judgement day.
